I watched this the other day and it gave me a whole new level of respect for the orig...and a realization of how bad the effects of the prequels hold up in comparison.

I watched documentaries many years ago that went through all the stuff they invented just for this movie. It was astonishing then, and it is astonishing now.  The original movie holds up very well to this day, and that’s saying something.

I was 8 in 77 and it was mind blowing at the time.

Corridor Crew nails it every time.

Some of the prequel effects are pretty solid

A lot of well done older movies are like that -see also the original Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park. There’s a definite tendency to either overuse CGI, or to not allow the time and budget to do it correctly.

I would love to see practical effects make a come back. They still look good 40+ years later unlike 5 year old CGI.

I’m still arguing with myself about if they are using practical effects for The Mandalorian or if they have gotten really good at faking it.

It was before computers!

I just rolled my eyes so hard Obi-Wan felt a disturbance in the F orce.
